was born on 30th November 1945 in Brecon, South Wales, Great Britain. He was raised in a family pub where he had the opportunity to watch, listen to and learn from a variety of local bands and artists.
He attended Harrow County School, where he majored in art.
He took part in forming the Madisons, one of the two 'big' local groups. The other one was the Lightnings.

Deep Purple Mk II.a
People involved Ritchie Blackmore (gtr); Ian Gillan (vcl); Roger Glover (bss); Jon Lord (kbr); Ian Paice (drm).
Glover was first recruited as a session player for the "Hallelujah" single, but he soon got an offer he couldn't refuse. The classic Deep Purple era began. They recorded four albums, viz. Deep Purple in Rock (1970), Fireball (1971), Machine Head (1972) and Who Do We Think We Are (1973).
People involved Ritchie Blackmore (gtr); Ian Gillan (vcl); Roger Glover (bss); Jon Lord (org/pno/kbr); Ian Paice (drm); and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Arnold.
Lord's Concerto was performed live at the Royal Albert Hall on 24 September 1969, by Deep Purple (with two brand new members, Gillan and Glover) and the RPO conducted by Malcolm Arnold. The event was televized (in the UK and Denmark), recorded and released on both album and video (slightly edited). It gave Deep Purple a huge marketing.
Some sources claim that Glover played bass for Elton John on the track "Rock'n'roll Madonna". He didn't. That was another Glover, says Glover.

A session originally meant to be the soundtrack for a cartoon based on the drawings of Alan Aldridge. Glover was asked to write the score, and he did. Loads of sessioners were brought in to supply the musical mechanics. Tony Ashton, for instance, "had just come from a clinic where he had been 'drying out'. He came in the studio straight from the clinic and I [i.e. Glover] said 'I want you to pretend to be drunk'. He did a very convincing job of it!" (from the CD sleeve notes). Apparently there was also some kind of promo video for the track "Love Is All".

A live performance of the Butterfly Ball at the Royal Albert Hall. Unfortunately, I'm quite ignorant as to who exactly performed on this. I've added some of the people from the earlier studio recording above; that is, minus Ronnie James Dio, whose part was taken over by Gillan and Twiggy (!). The entire thing was also videoed, but this was apparently somewhat of a less amusing experience; or as Roger Glover put it: "if something is going to bear your name, make damn sure you do all the work" (from the CD sleeve notes to the studio recording).
